Spoiler Free Review: Star Trek: Picard Episode 1

In a galaxy far far away……wait, wrong space series. Beam me up, Scotty! Hmmm, close enough.

Guys it’s finally here! The long awaited Star Trek: Picard series dropped yesterday and man is it taking over my social media feeds. I forgot how many people loved Patrick Stewarts portray of Jean-Luc Picard. Can you believe that the last episode of The Next Generation aired in 1994?! That’s over two decades old and yet everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, knows about Captain Picard. So I guess you have one thing to look forward to this weekend, right?! Still not convinced huh…. well then check out the trailer below!

I cannot wait to watch the rest of this series. First off, there’s so many old Star Trek cast members making appearances on this show. Secondly, Jean-Luc is my favorite star ship captain and despite being older, Patrick Stewart is still killing it on screen. I watched the first episode yesterday and got hit right in the nostalgia feels. Sure, he’s not the same man he was in Next Generation, but his character still has that realism that keeps your eyes glued to the screen. Needless to say, I’ll be watching this series. Oh, and lastly, the show looks amazing in 4k. CBS doesn’t skimp on the CGI budget.

I don’t want to get too much into the story of the first episode because a ton of stuff happens and I might easily spoil something on accident; but I will say this. You’ll get old characters, new characters, and the return of one of the best villains the Star Ship Enterprise has ever had to fight!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grab my Earl Gray Tea…..HOT!

Rock On!
